Marine and Logistics

Marine and logistics is a critical sector that focuses on the planning, coordination, transportation, and management of goods, materials, equipment, and personnel through maritime networks. It serves as the backbone of international trade, with nearly 90% of global trade transported by sea. The industry plays a vital role in connecting manufacturers, suppliers, and consumers across continents through efficient and reliable shipping operations.

The marine and logistics sector encompasses a wide range of activities, including cargo transportation, vessel operations, port management, offshore support services, freight forwarding, customs clearance, warehousing, inventory management, and supply chain coordination. It ensures that products such as crude oil, liquefied natural gas (LNG), petroleum products, industrial equipment, construction materials, food, pharmaceuticals, automobiles, and consumer goods are transported safely and efficiently to their destinations.

In the energy industry, marine logistics is especially important for supporting offshore oil and gas operations. It involves the transportation of drilling equipment, supplies, fuel, personnel, and heavy machinery to offshore platforms using specialized vessels such as Platform Supply Vessels (PSVs), Anchor Handling Tug Supply (AHTS) vessels, heavy-lift ships, barges, and crew boats. Marine logistics teams also coordinate vessel schedules, offshore loading and unloading, emergency response, and compliance with international maritime safety regulations.

Port operations form another essential component of marine logistics. Modern ports handle millions of tonnes of cargo annually and require careful planning to manage vessel traffic, cargo loading and unloading, container handling, storage facilities, customs inspections, and transportation links. Efficient port management helps reduce shipping delays, lower transportation costs, and improve the overall performance of the global supply chain.

Build Your Career with QatarEnergy

The latest recruitment campaign reflects QatarEnergy’s continued investment in strengthening its marine and aviation operations. Professionals joining the organization will have the opportunity to work on strategically important projects supporting one of the world’s leading energy companies.

Experienced candidates who meet the required qualifications and industry experience are encouraged to submit their applications through QatarEnergy’s official careers portal and become part of a global workforce committed to excellence, safety, innovation, and sustainable energy development. Recognizing the growing global demand for cleaner and more reliable energy, QatarEnergy has launched one of the largest LNG expansion programmes in the history of the energy industry. The company is investing billions of dollars to increase production from Qatar’s North Field, the world’s largest single non-associated natural gas field.

The first phase of this expansion, known as the North Field East (NFE) Project, will increase Qatar’s LNG production capacity from 77 million metric tonnes per annum (MTPA) to 110 MTPA. This landmark project includes the development of new LNG production trains, advanced processing facilities, and supporting infrastructure that will significantly strengthen Qatar’s position in the global energy market.

Building on this achievement, the North Field South (NFS) Project represents the second phase of expansion and will further raise the country’s LNG production capacity to 126 MTPA. This phase incorporates advanced technologies designed to improve operational efficiency, enhance environmental performance, and reduce carbon emissions while meeting increasing international demand for natural gas.

QatarEnergy has also announced the North Field West (NFW) Project, the third phase of its expansion programme. Once completed by the end of 2030, this project will increase Qatar’s LNG production capacity to an impressive 142 MTPA, making it one of the largest LNG production expansions ever undertaken anywhere in the world. The expansion will strengthen Qatar’s ability to supply long-term energy to customers across Asia, Europe, and other international markets.

In addition to its domestic expansion projects, QatarEnergy continues to expand its international presence through strategic partnerships and overseas investments. One of its most significant global projects is the Golden Pass LNG export terminal in Texas, United States, which is being developed in partnership with international energy companies. The project will add 18 MTPA of LNG production capacity through three state-of-the-art liquefaction trains, further enhancing QatarEnergy’s ability to serve global markets and diversify its export portfolio.
