Job Description

The Mechanical Technician will be responsible for carrying out a wide range of mechanical repair, maintenance and servicing activities involving heavy earthmoving equipment, materials-handling equipment, gensets and marine engines.

The role involves working both at the company’s workshop and at customer sites, depending on operational requirements. The successful candidate will be expected to perform major and minor repairs, overhauls and servicing while maintaining high standards of quality and safety.

The technician will also be responsible for completing and submitting daily timesheets and service reports after jobs are completed. In addition, the position involves providing on-the-job training and practical guidance to junior members of the team.

The employee may also be assigned additional responsibilities by the Service Manager as required.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out major and minor repairs on heavy earthmoving equipment.
• Perform equipment overhauls and preventive maintenance.
• Service materials-handling equipment.
• Work on gensets and marine engines.
• Carry out repair and servicing activities at the workshop and customer sites.
• Complete daily timesheets accurately.

Educational Qualifications

Candidates applying for the Mechanical Technician position should ideally hold an ITI certificate or equivalent qualification.

Applicants with a high school certificate may also be considered, provided they meet the required level of professional experience.

Work Experience

The experience requirement depends on the candidate’s educational qualification.

For ITI certificate holders:

• Minimum 7 to 8 years of hands-on experience in major repairs and maintenance.
• Experience should include heavy earthmoving equipment, gensets and marine engines.

For high school certificate holders:

• Minimum 12 to 14 years of relevant experience.
• Experience should be in major repairs and maintenance of heavy earthmoving equipment, gensets and marine engines.

Candidates with strong practical knowledge and extensive hands-on experience in heavy equipment maintenance may be particularly suited to the position.

Technical Skills and Knowledge

Applicants should have good practical mechanical knowledge and be capable of independently referring to and using parts catalogues and service manuals.

The position requires the ability to identify parts, understand technical documentation and follow appropriate repair and servicing procedures.

Good verbal and written English communication skills are required. Knowledge of spoken Arabic would be an advantage, although it is not an essential requirement for the position.

Driving Licence

A valid UAE driving licence is not mandatory, but holding one would be considered an advantage for the role.
