Job Responsibilities
The selected candidate will be responsible for operating the vacuum tanker safely and carrying out sewage and fluid collection duties at company and customer locations.
Key responsibilities include:
- Drive the vacuum tanker to assigned locations and disposal sites.
- Safely collect and transport fluids and sewage.
- Connect hoses and operate the vacuum tanker equipment.
- Monitor the quantity of fluid extracted and the permitted hauling capacity.
- Inspect the vehicle before and after trips.
- Report mechanical defects and other vehicle issues.
- Maintain accurate work tickets and driving logbooks.
- Complete pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
- Maintain vehicle maintenance records.
- Follow company health, safety, hygiene and quality requirements.
- Communicate professionally with customers and colleagues.
- Work safely in different environmental conditions.
- Follow applicable rules and regulations.
- Inform supervisors when mechanical problems or working-hour issues arise.
Requirements
Candidates should meet the following requirements:
- High School qualification or equivalent.
- 1–2 years of similar experience operating a vacuum tanker in a regulated environment.
- Valid driver’s licence with the appropriate endorsements for the vehicle.
- Required training for operating the equipment.
- Proper brake certification where applicable.
- Basic vehicle maintenance knowledge.
- Experience using hand tools and vehicle-related equipment.
- Physically fit and able to perform frequent movement, lifting, pulling, pushing and climbing activities.
- Willingness to work shifts, including a 24/7 shift pattern and long working hours.
- Good teamwork and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a multicultural environment.
- Reliable and self-motivated approach to work.
Working Conditions
The role can involve both indoor and outdoor work and may require exposure to different environmental conditions, including heat, cold, dust, fumes, noise and dampness.
