✨ Job Purpose
The Senior Graphic Designer will support the Publications team in delivering high-quality, engaging museum publications. This role focuses on developing strong visual concepts, executing publication designs, and managing projects through to final print production.
You will also contribute to accessible and digital publishing initiatives, ensuring all outputs align with the museum’s brand, curatorial vision, and inclusivity standards.
🧩 Key Responsibilities
🎯 Design & Concept Development
- Create innovative visual concepts for:
- Exhibition catalogues
- Guidebooks
- Scholarly publications
- Coffee table books
- Children’s publications
- Translate curatorial and editorial content into visually compelling designs
- Maintain and evolve the museum’s visual identity across publications
- Lead the development of a unified visual language strategy
🖨️ Book Production & Print Management
- Prepare print-ready files as per professional publishing standards
- Coordinate with printers and vendors for production and quality control
- Review proofs, conduct pre-press checks, and manage revisions
🌍 Bilingual Design (Arabic & English)
- Design bilingual and bidirectional layouts
- Ensure proper typography, readability, and hierarchy for both languages
🤝 Stakeholder Management
- Collaborate with curators, editors, marketing teams, and educators
- Manage multiple projects while meeting tight deadlines
- Coordinate with external partners and vendors
- Maintain organized archives of design assets
💻 Accessible & Digital Publishing
- Develop accessible publications (inclusive design, readability, contrast)
- Design for digital formats like PDFs and eBooks (ePub)
- Ensure compliance with accessibility standards
🎓 Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design / Visual Communication (Master’s preferred)
- 5–7 years of experience, including 2+ years in a senior role
- Strong experience in book/magazine publishing
- Proven ability to manage large-scale publication projects
🧠 Technical Expertise
- Advanced knowledge of:
- Typography, layout, grids, and hierarchy
- Arabic & English typesetting (RTL & bilingual design)
- Strong understanding of:
- Print production and color correction
- Offset, digital & large-format printing
- Book binding and materials
🛠️ Skills Required
- Expert in Adobe InDesign
- Fluent in Arabic and English (mandatory)
- Strong attention to detail
- Excellent time management and organization
- Knowledge of accessible publishing (tagged PDFs, ePub) is a plus
